The Demag electric balancer was one of the winners of the “handling Awards 2014”. In this competition, organised for the first time by the well-known trade journal handling and the trade fair promoter P. E. Schall, the Demag electric balancer achieved third place in the New Developments category.

Accepting the prize in Stuttgart, Dr Thomas Bönker, Head of the Components business line at Terex Material Handling said, “We are pleased to have won this award in a very competitive field. For us, the handling Award is further confirmation that, with our electric balancer, we have developed a real product innovation for many areas of handling technology.”

The handling Award 2014

handling is one of the best known and most widely circulated trade journals for handling, factory automation and intralogistics. This specialist publication, owned by WEKA Fachmedien, created the handling Award together with the trade fair promoter P. E. Schall (Motek).

Prizes were awarded for outstanding products and system solutions in the field of production and assembly automation and for innovations in handling systems, robotics, material flow and materials handling. This year there were more than 90 entries in two categories, 64 of these in the New Developments category.

About the Demag electric balancer

The Demag electric balancer is an electronically controlled compact hoist, with which sensitive parts can be handled very smoothly and gently and workpieces can be positioned with maximum precision.

Designed for handling loads weighing up to 160 kg, the electric balancer has two operating modes. Thanks to its unique load pick-up mode, the Demag electric balancer can hold a load precisely and perfectly in balance, without specific position tolerances and with no possibility of the load dropping. Assembly mode provides for a high level of safety and precision for assembly operations, since any oscillation and uncontrolled load movements are eliminated.

Load handling operations can be conveniently controlled in “Grip control” mode using the D-Grip handle. When it is switched to “Load control”, the electric balancer acts like an extension to the operator’s arm, enabling loads to be handled and guided direct by slight movements.
